All About Permanent Makeup
Why in the world would anyone want permanent makeup anyway?
Why should I get Permanent Makeup?
Permanent makeup (PMU) offers a convenient & time-saving solution for those who want to enhance their natural features without the daily hassle of applying cosmetics. Whether it’s defined eyebrows, or a touch of lip color… Permanent makeup provides long-lasting results that stay in place through workouts, swimming, and busy schedules. It can also be a game-changer for individuals with allergies to traditional makeup, vision impairments, carpal tunnel/other conditions that affect the hands control, or conditions like alopecia. By investing in permanent makeup, you’re not just simplifying your routine—you’re gaining confidence and consistency in your appearance every day.
What is Permanent Makeup?
Permanent Makeup is a cosmetic procedure that uses a specialized tattooing technique to implant pigments into the skin. We use your natural & beautiful features & enhance them. We can mimic the way you like to draw/powder on your brows, or just give you a new look based on your anatomy. We can even color match your favorite lip color, so you can wake up with it on.
Unlike body tattoos, permanent makeup pigment is designed to fade over time, allowing for adjustments as your features or preferences change.
You may have heard of microblading eyebrows.. It is commonly done using a grouping of tiny needles & is dragged along the skin. Here at Eclectic Body Art we only use the machine method. This method lasts a little longer than traditional microblading.
Typically microblading lasts around 2 years while, with good care, the machine techniques may last 2-4 years. There are ways to take care of your permanent makeup so that it looks flawless for longer.
Common Misconceptions
Will you shave my eyebrows first? -We DO NOT have to shave your eyebrows off! We use your natural hair to enhance the shape & decide what technique will be best for your features & preferences.
It hurts! — You will be numbed for the entire procedure. There is very little to no discomfort for the entire session.
Fading to different colors?—Your brows will not age and turn black, blue, green, etc. The pigments have become better in the last 20 years so that they fade out more true to color. They can age with a slight grey-ish color, but it tends to be very hard to notice.
You will need touchups every year-Getting touchups every year can actually build scar tissue over time. If your artist is putting the pigment in correctly, after your final session, they should last around 2 years. When you feel like you need to apply makeup on your lips or brows to enhance the color & saturation, it is time to get a touchup.
It’ll look trendy—Permanent makeup has been around for decades, and yes there have been brow & makeup trends.. however we have grown from others past experiences, and know the importance of mapping your features to give a more natural shape to enhance your facial anatomy.
What do I need to know before my appointment?
Our pigments are vegan, EU tested, & REACH compliant. This means our pigments have undergone strict testing & is safe for the skin & body. Pigments that have not been tested under these circumstances, like in America, have higher amounts of matter that the EU doesn’t allow.
All permanent makeup will lighten & soften in color, as it heals. Due to the pigment sitting on top of the skin when it is fresh, your PMU will look brighter, or darker. As your skin heals over the pigment, it will look softer and lighter.
Depending on lifestyle & Aftercare: Brows will lighten 30%-50%. Lip Blushing will lighten 50%-70%.
We will discuss everything before your procedure. The shape and color you desire, how natural you would like your PMU, which styles/techniques of PMU that you prefer. & Any other questions you may have!
Every PMU session comes with a complimentary touchup in 6-8 weeks. If you like the way they healed, you can choose to not get a touch up. We may have you come in within that time frame for photos, or just a quick refresher of color or shape, if we deem it necessary for perfection. After 10+ weeks, you will be charged for a touch up.
Following your first session, you will receive complimentary aftercare. This kit should last you for your healing after both the initial appointment, and your touchup session.

Healing Your Permanent Makeup
Absolutely no swimming or submerging your permanent makeup.
It is important not to sweat where your new PMU is for 2 weeks. This is because saline removes tattoos.
No steam while showering, and no saunas.
No tanning for 2-4 weeks after PMU procedure.
During the first day or two after your procedure, there will be some ‘weeping’. White blood cells are being flooded to your new PMU for healing.
Make sure to dab the fluids off with a soft wet tissue. Do not allow any fluids to build up on your brows or lips.
After the first 24-48 hours you will start washing your PMU with a gentle cleanser.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel, then apply a very thin layer of moisturizer we have provided. You will start to notice some scabbing after a few days.
Do not allow it to scab.
Apply moisturizer multiple times per day, whenever your PMU feels dry, itchy, or is scabbing. Clean off previous moisturizer with a clean, damp tissue. You will have to do this for about 2 weeks.
After 2 weeks you will see that your PMU has lightened and is starting to settle under your skin.
After 4-6 weeks your PMU will be true to tone. Around 6-8 weeks you will come in for healed photos and a touch up if necessary.
